There are at least 3 reasons to use this phone over other phones with a Talkswitch system. First, if you run a business out of the house, you can use line 1 to be business calls and connect to Talkswitch, and, you can use line 2 to be personal calls (home) and connect this to your home line. This allows you to use all 2 lines for business with say a Talkswitch 24-CA, and, still use personal calls on line 2 without wasting a Talkswitch incoming line. The second common use is if you run 2 businesses. You can have Talkswitch generate a distinctive ring for business calls if you use a single line phone, or with this phone, route 2 extensions to your desk, line 1 would be business 1, and line 2 would be business 2. The third case is for making it really easy to handle 2 calls. It's easier than a single line phone to put a caller on hold, and, pick up your second call. To use with Talkswitch 24-CA, you will need a 1 line to 2 line adapter as the connector on this phone is a 2 line connector. Talkswitch uses a single line connector, so, you'll hook this phone up to TWO Talkswitch extension ports. Do not use a simple splitter, it will not work! The most likely reason your Talkswitch 24-CA will fail over time is surge related damage, not necessarily lightning.
