This kit allows you to upgrade your Talkswitch 240VS to a Talkswitch 280VS, which means you are adding 4 more local extensions. The Talkswitch 280VS has inputs for 2 incoming phone lines, and outputs for up to 8 analog or SIP local extensions. You can also program up to 10 remote extensions (off site), these can be cell phones or anything else with a phone number. The system uses analog phones, and can also use IP phones via VOIP as local extensions with or without the upgrade.
