It's a nice phone with numerous feature buttons for ease of use and flexibility. The speaker is not the highest quality though, better to use a headset for handsfree. Hooking multiple units together provides an equal number of additional incoming lines, local extension, and remote extensions. Therefore, 4 Talkswitch 48-CA hooked together provides 16 incoming lines, 32 local extensions, and 40 remote extensions. It functions as one phone system. The Talkswitch 48-CA has inputs for 4 incoming phone lines, and outputs for up to 8 extensions. You can also program up to 10 (software version 4.0 only, previous versions have 8) remote extensions (off site), these can be cell phones or anything else with a phone number. Talkswitch uses analog phones, or, SIP phones for local extensions. A Talkswitch 48-CA can be upgraded to a 48-CVA for VOIP capabilities. The Talkswitch 48-CA is ideal as a small business phone system. You can also network a 48-CA with other current Talkswitch models having a network port.
