The market for Talkswitch is the home office, small office, or small business. With the Talkswitch 484VS and 480VS, it can scale to medium size businesses in many cases. There are an estimated 6 million small businesses in the US, if you define small business as having 20 or fewer employees. The Talkswitch small business phone system will support up to 16 incoming analog phone lines, 16 incoming VOIP lines, and 32 analog or IP local extensions plus an additional 32 IP extensions via an optional license. Talkswitch has been developing pbx systems for this market since 1990. Their initial product was called the Concero Switchboard, but this has been replaced with the new models.
The Talkswitch system is a phone system for small business, and provides real PBX phone system functionality to those smaller businesses. If you use professional voices and an auto attendant, you can definitely project a large company image to your customers. Talkswitch has large PBX features such as voicemail, hunt groups, sophisticated call cascade features, remote extensions, voice over IP options, call queue, etc.
Talkswitch is configured via a very easy to use Windows program. Using Windows is so much easier than using complex phone codes and setup procedures required by competing pbx systems. We find that most of our Talkswitch customers very easily set up their own system. This is one of the advantages of Talkswitch - you do not need to keep hiring a phone guy each time you want to change things. Very important to the bottom line of any small business. The only help you might ever need is wiring, though in some cases, wireless is also a good solution.
All operations of the Talkswitch can be done from any analog phone (or local SIP extensions), the type of phone you might use at home. There are some considerations when you decide what phones you want to use with this small business phone system. If you already have analog phones, you may use them with Talkswitch. Some customers like inexpensive phones, we have some very nice inexpensive phones, with some decent functionality, it's hard to beat the price! You might want to consider a speakerphone for hands free desk based operations. Using call park though, you can place a caller on hold at your extension, and pick it up at any other extension, so wireless is not always needed. Headsets can be useful if you spend a lot of time on the phone and cannot use a speakerphone. Caller ID displays are sometimes desirable, many phones have those, Talkswitch supports Caller ID if you have that service from your phone company. A voicemail light that works with the Talkswitch system is also useful for many customers. We also sell add-on lights if you have existing phones without lights. Or, you can just rely on the stutter tone Talkswitch sends when you pick up your extension, it will also tell you that you have voice mail waiting. Having the ability to store common functions in memory buttons is also a nice feature, so you can pick up calls ringing on another extension via a single button press for example. Some phones come set up for Talkswitch, these are obviously the quickest and easiest way to get up and running. You can also use some SIP based phones as local extensions with Talkswitch. These provide some benefits like call appearances. Recommended models are auto provisioned by Talkswitch. Finally, you can go with a software driven phone like the Powertouch phones we sell. These are menu driven extremely easy to use phones with Talkswitch.
One the most outstanding and powerful features of Talkswitch small business phone system is the call cascade features. This is pretty unique to Talkswitch, and can be a huge benefit to the small business customer. Call cascade allows you to route calls based on conditions like phone busy, not answered, etc. Many phone systems have such features, but, only one level deep. You can make this much more sophisticated with Talkswitch. For example, maybe you want a option to route a call directly to your "sales team", which is you for the most part. You can configure the Talkswitch phone system to send the call to you, and, if you are already on the phone, instead, send the call to a different extension. If it turns out that extension is busy, maybe you want to play a message telling the customer all sales team members are currently busy on other calls, and queue the call so that when you are off the current call, you can then take their call. Or, maybe you want to route the call to a cell phone if you do not answer your regular phone line. Many small businesses have mobile workers, and this can be a huge advantage of the Talkswitch phone system. The possibilities are virtually endless with what you can do with call cascade!
Really decentralized companies can take great advantage of remote extensions, and, "transfer and clear". If your phone company can provide transfer and clear services, known under various names such as "call transfer disconnect", and it works via flash - dial phone #, and then hangup. If it works this way, you are in business! Each remote worker becomes a remote extension, perhaps at their cell phone, or, perhaps at their home phone. A Talkswitch 240VS can work really well for this at a very modest price. Talkswitch can perform auto attendant functions, and, direct people to the remote workers. It can also function as a central mail repository. You might choose to use the "play accept reject prompt" feature. Doing this, a customer might call in, go through some auto attendants, or, perhaps pick a remote extension. The home phone is dialed, if someone answers, Talkswitch asks them to accept the call. Therefore, they know it is a work call. If they accept the call, then, they are talking to the person, and, the Talkswitch disconnects from the line. So, the person who called is now talking to the person at their home, without any Talkswitch line being busy! Very powerful. If they choose to not accept the call, or, they do not answer, then, the call can be sent elsewhere, or, to voicemail, or, whereever you would like, maybe another remote worker. Remote workers are now part of a phone system with an auto attendant, voice mail, etc. Remote workers can check their Talkswitch voice mail, forward it to other voice mailboxes, perhaps leave messages for other remote workers without disturbing them at night, etc.!
Another nice feature of the Talkswitch small business phone system is mode switching. By day of the week, you can tell the phone system what your operating hours are. So, maybe at 6PM on Mondays, you switch to a different mode. Most all features can be set by mode. So, maybe at night, what the system does is completely different than what is done during the work day. For example, at night, typically you route people to a general mailbox, Talkswitch provides 10 of those. However, maybe you do have some urgent support calls as well. You can set up an option for those urgent calls, and have the system send you a page, maybe call your cell phone, or, maybe call you at home. Or, all of the above. Since Talkswitch mode switching is automatic, this means you do not have to remember to change any option before you go home. This is very powerful for the small business and home based business (SOHO)! You can specify holidays via the integrated calendar for special call handling.
If you run multiple small businesses, there are ways to separate out calls from one business or the other. This can be done via ring patterns on Talkswitch. Business A might be a normal ring, and business B might be 3 rings. Or, it can be done via ring groups which can notify you on your phone which group was called. In that way, you can easily tell which business was being called. Each small business can have their own menus and options. Again, you will find the Talkswitch phone system very flexible in this respect. We like using ring patterns as you can know what business is being called without even looking at any phone.
If you have remote workers, really remote, you might also consider VOIP. Or, use Talkswitch with multiple branches, this is also a very good option. This is very common today with virtual companies, small businesses today are not as rigidly organized and locally located. Our Talkswitch VOIP solutions can enable a remote worker, perhaps in another state or country, to have a phone, and be connected to the Talkswitch system over the internet. They have virtually full functionality of the main phone system, plus, they can even have their own functioning voice mail light! This remote worker could even call bridge and place an outgoing call from the main pbx system, just like they were in the office. Dialing or contacting the remote worker is as easy as dialing any other extension, and, they can be part of call cascade or auto attendant options. Once you purchase the VOIP equipment, calls are free to that remote worker or office!
Ever travel out of the country, and, need to call back to the states? In some countries, it is extremely expensive to place outgoing calls. With Talkswitch, there is another solution. Using callback and call bridge, you can have the system call you, even at a hotel. This can be an auto callback, where you dial the system and hang up and it calls you back, or, a promoted call back where you dial in and tell it to call you back, meaning, a 1 minute call. You can record a message that tells the person who answers the phone to transfer the call to say room 105. When you get the call, you now are in just like you were in the office and can place outgoing calls! This can be an enormous benefit for travelers.
Our Talkswitch phone systems have many more features than we can possibly list here. Explore the site, explore the links, and let us know if you have any additional questions. You can also check out the Talkswitch web site for additional information from the manufacturer. |
