The Viking Electronics E-20B door entry speakerphone is similar to the E-10, just a different look. These door entry systems are designed to provide hands free communication, and are typically used to facilitate entry into a building so you know who is there, and, what they want. With an electronic door strike, you might also be able to let the person into the building remotely as well.
When you push the button on the E-20B, all it really does is go off-hook, just like you picked up a phone. So, by itself, typically, it is not terribly useful unless what your are hooking it to has a built in ringdown circuit. So, unless this is good enough, you also want to purchase the C-1000B or the K-1900-5 or both depending on your requirement. Also, there is a more weatherproof version for harsher environments, the E-10-EWP and the E-20B-EWP, consider these if the device will be mounted in an exposed manner to the elements.
If you are hooking the E-20B to a phone system (CO line side) or phones, you might only need this device and a DLE-200B two way ringdown circuit.
If you are hooking the E-20B to an extension port on an analog phone system, then, you would typically purchase this device along with
a hot dialer like the K-1900-5. So, when the button is pushed by the visitor, it acts as if a phone was taken off hook, the hot dialer then dials a pre-programmed number (perhaps a ring group ringing some number of phones on your phone system), and, there you go. If you want to have the ability to actually unlock a door remotely when a person hit's that button, you might also purchase the C-1000B which allows you to hook up cameras and or electronic door locks. |
