The Viking Electronics K-1900-5 is a touch tone hot line dialer often used in door entry systems, but has many other applications as well. The idea is you pick up an attached phone, and, this box detects that and dials a preset number. Examples of other uses include a hot line reservation system phone, perhaps an emergency "red" phone, a help line, a kiosk, or a courtesy phone.
So, to use as part of a door entry system, you would also purchase a door entry speakerphone, and, possibly a C-1000B controller if you want to also be able to unlock a door remotely and hook up security cameras. This dialer would be used if you are hooking to a extension port on a phone system. It can also be hooked to a phone line. It cannot be hooked to the CO side (or input) or a phone system by itself as there would be no dial tone. In a phone system environment, typically you would program it to ring a group of phones unless you have one phone dedicated to door entry. |
